My Interior Design Course: Module 1
So my course is in full swing, remember the one I started with GetSmarter? If not, read about it here.
With the course being a 10 week course there is an assignment after each module, so one a week. The best part is that it literally allows me to manage my time however works best for me although, I must say, I am finding this seriously challenging as 1) I work full time and 2) I am a terrible procrastinator and super busy person. But, nevertheless, it is going to be a good exercise of serious self-discipline for me.
This week’s module focused on teaching us how to use SketchUp – a 3D modelling programme for architecture, design etc. This was quite tricky at first but GetSmarter provides you with awesome video tutorials which make it really hands-on and informative.
As I have mentioned, I am wanting to put all this knowledge to use, and what better way than in my little home – I live alone so can do as I please. Below is my first addition on the journey to creating a home – it’s a kitchen island that I built and painted (well, that my boyfriend built and helped me paint). It’s so super handy and cost me R1200 in total! Below were my inspiration images and then my final product.

I wish my kitchen was big enough for an island – I love them, I think it makes the kitchen cozier and more like a country kitchen. Looks great tori – well done 🙂
Love it! Well done on your first creation…
Thanks Loren, this was is quite small cos my kitchen is also not big, makes such a diff with counter space too!
