Rosehurst, Natal
Hometown Glory…
I am originally from a small town in Kwa-Zulu Natal called Pietermaritzburg where there is very little to glorify! Finding a place to have lunch is a challenge, and more often than not it is safer and more enjoyable to cook up a feast at home! So much so that my sister, Mum and I ended up at John Dory’s the one night when my Dad and brother were away – you see, spoilt for choice!!!!
There is one little gem though, so should you ever be driving through PMB or this is for some god-forsaken reason is your destination – then give this place a go! Rosehurst coffee shop is gorgeous, something you’d expect to find in a quaint little town. They offer fresh home-made lunched ranging from gourmet ciabatta’s to salads and milkshakes.
All very weird and wonderful combinations that taste like heaven. The entrance to the restaurant is a little shop, filled with vintage goodies, childrens clothing and odds and ends that would make wonderful gifts. The home was originally owned by a lady called Lorraine Ketley and was one of the most popular open-gardens. She kept it beautifully (I remember going to see it as a little girl).
The garden has been kept just as amazing, making you feel like you are in a fairy land when visiting here.
