My Beauty Chat with Ash from Quintessentially Me
My Interview with Ash from Quintessentially Me has just been published so pop on over to her blog to read the full, in-depth interview on everything from my favourite products and beauty pet-peeves to local beauty products and my thoughts on starting a blog.
I also shared my contents of my makeup bag with her. To be honest this is something that changes fairly often as I’m always trying out new products or different product combinations, but these really are some old favourites with the reasons why I love each one of them:
And in no particular order, this is why I love each of this products:
Bioderma Crealine H2O – those who own this will understand my love for it, and those who don’t should go out and buy it NOW! It makes make up removal quick and easy and has been a staple in my make-up bag for ages now!
YSL Touche Eclat – Terry from By Terry was the brains behind this product and it really is great. A swipe under each eye post-foundation application wakes the eye area up and makes dark circles or puffy eyes look brighter and more appealing.
NARS Bronzer in Laguna – it took me a while to fall in love with this cult bronzer but now that I’ve learnt how little I need, I adore it. This is my third one! I love this paired with tinted moisturiser to warm the skin up. A big fluffy brush is key to the application.
Kiehls Lip Balm in Pear Tree – these lip balms give great hydration and this one gives the perfect nude/pink touch of colour to the lips and isn’t overly glossy which I like.
Bobbi Brown Eye Palette in Lilac Rose – this is the perfect compact palette as it has 8 awesome, nude shades all in that little square case! There are some perfect natural eye shadow shades here, but the reason I love this palette the most is that it doubles up as my brow palette when I’m in a rush or travelling.
Laura Mercier Pink Bronzing Duo – I love this for giving a pink flush to my cheeks. I don’t use this on days when I use my Laguna, but it’s amazing for ticking the bronzer and blush box in one.
Bobbi Brown Pretty Powerful Pot Rouge – this is the best cream blush out there in my opinion, well for my skin this particular colour just works so well. It’s is rather pink but transfers beautifully onto the skin. This and my Chantecaille tinted moisturiser work wonders together!
By Terry Light Expert Foundation – I love how silky this formula is. I end up using this in combination with a tinted moisturizer for days when I need more coverage.
By Terry Bronze Expert – this is my go-to product for easy contouring (when I am feeling like taking my time) as I am seriously lacking in skill in this department! This product is obviously a liquid formula but dries quickly and stays put. It’s subtle and has no shimmer.
Bobbi Brown Corrector – this is great to correct the dark circles under my eyes. I actually don’t love their concealer so don’t end up using that as often as I use the corrector.
Laura Mercier Primer (Hydrating) – I only use this when I am wearing evening make-up but love this primer, it doesn’t sit on the skin and leaves my make up looking dewy and it lasts well.
Chantecaille Just Skin – my best tinted moisturiser, closely followed by my Laura Mercier one.
Laura Mercier Concealer – this has recently finished and as much as I loved it, I wont be repurchasing it as plan on trying the NARS radiant concealer next.
Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara – love the intensity of this pigment, it stays put and when layered, gives the eyes a dramatic look – perfect for the eve paired with a smokey eye.
By Terry Maxi Volume Gloss – I always change my lip colour so there is no staple here. I love MAC lipsticks and always throw up what gloss I am using depending on my mood – never anything too glossy.
Thanks for taking the time out of your South African holiday to chat to me Ash, was such a pleasure meeting you, even though it felt like we had known one another for ages!
