My Make-up Stain Removal Tips
I am an avid cleaning product collector. Rather weird, I know, but it’s really important to me to keep my clothes in good condition. I am one of those people that prefer spending more on one item of clothing than getting six tops for the same price. Some battle to understand this way of thinking but I still wear clothes from a few years ago that still look beautiful and are still on-trend. A big part in maintaining my clothes appearance is correct stain removal.
I take great care in looking after and washing my clothes and end up hand washing 60% of my clothing. I also take great care in removing stains (generally from make-up or food). I have tried loads of different products for this, but swear by Vanish. I use both the Vanish Oxi Action Powder and the Vanish Oxi Action Crystal White Powder, here is how I use them and what I use them for:
I use this for my coloured garments of clothing as well as coloured bra’s. I pop one scoop of this powder into a bucket of warm (not hot) water. I then soak the item for an hour – you don’t need any longer than this so don’t do it overnight if you can help it (although whites can do up to 6 hours). Then pop into the washing for the usual cycle or simply rinse in water and hang up to dry if it is a hand wash-only garment.
Vanish Oxi Action Crystal White Powder:
I probably use this the most, especially for make-up stains or bronzer stains on white clothing. I like all my white bra’s and shirts to remain crisp white (as well as my linen). This can be used in a similar way to above, alternative it can be made into a paste with some water and rubbed into the actual stain (lipstick, wine etc).
Again, as mentioned, whites can be left to soak for longer and you won’t believe the difference in having bright-white clothes as opposed to dull whites that have been washed over the years. You can read more tips and care guides here.
