Tom Ford Black Orchid Eau de Toilette {New}

I spoilt myself to the latest launch from Tom Ford which is the Eau de Toilette version of the Black Orchid fragrance. The original Black Orchid Eau de Parfum has been my go-to signature scent for years, hence the splurge on the EDT version and I loved the fact that this newer addition is a tad softer and more wearable for every day. Oh, and the matte black bottle may have swayed me a bit too…

If I had to compare the EDP and the EDT, I would say the EDT is slightly more floral and less masculine than the EDP. It’s slightly musky and a little softer, making it more wearable for the day time. This most certainly doesn’t make my EDP redundant, as this is still my go-to for the evenings, but this is a good alternative when you want something less dramatic. The longevity is absolute outstanding – I was worried about this as the EDP is so great, but the EDT is just as good and one or two spritz’s has you smelling delicious all day long.

Top notes – Black truffle, ylang ylang, bergamot, blackcurrant

Middle notes – black orchid, tuberose, fruity notes

Base notes – Lotus wood, patchouli, incense, vetiver, vanilla, sandalwood

I went for the 100ml as price wise this made the most sense – 100ml was R1500. I don’t remember the exact price of the 50ml but think it was around R1200. I picked mine up from Edgars V&A – I can’t find it online in SA, so you will have to go into stores to check it out. I think certain Woolworths stores sell it too.

I have already received so many compliments since wearing this and am pretty sure this is going to be my go-to scent this winter!

    So glad that you love it. I also find it softer and on me it does not last as long as the EDP typically would. It is a really nice option for daytime wear, especially if you're craving a little Black Orchid, but don't want to to bother your colleagues with the overbearing scent of the EDP.

    The matte black bottle was the drawing factor for me too! In all honesty, if I run out of this one, I would most likely not re-purchase. Would rather go for the EDP (my bottle is almost empty)

    100% agree with you. That black bottle is worth keeping on your counter top even when it finishes 🙂 Only slight negative is the sweetness of this one as opposed to the EDP can be a bit much for me at times
