Kiehl’s 28 Day Challenge: What is Midnight Recovery Concentrate?

As some of you may have read, I started the Kiehl’s 28 Day Change Your Skin Challenge a week ago now (read about the challengehere). The gist of the challenge is that myself and 6 of my KBT readers will be using a best-seller from Kiehl’s called Midnight Recovery Concentrate for 28 days and tracking the changes (if any) in our skin.

So what is the Midnight Recovery Concentrate?

It’s said to be the product that allows you to ‘sleep tight and restores skin overnight’. Here is some more info on the actual product. I will be sharing my personal progress on the blog later this week as well as via Twitter and Instagram. So here it goes, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate is…

A product specifically formulated to biologically replicate skin’s natural lipids for optimal skin repair during the night (hence the name)

It’s 99% naturally-derived and paraben-free

It’s an oil that you apply in the evening (as you would use your serum)

It’s ‘water free’ and made of the following:

9% Squalene: a botanical lipid that is a similar composition to the skin. This instantly restores skin’s natural moisture balance (and absorbs beautifully).

15% Evening Primrose: this is rich in omega-6 and essential fatty

acids that the body cannot naturally produce. It’s also effective on skin-barrier repair.

Essential Oils: A blend of essential oils including lavender,

known for their therapeutic, balancing, and antioxidant effects.

Replenishes depleted skin. Skin feels softer, smoother and more hydrated. Skin will look noticeably more radiant and mother in the morning.

Enriched with a blend of Omega 3, 6, 9 which has amazing results on the skin alone.

Recyclable glass bottle, dropper and plastic squeeze top in the usual amazing Kiehl’s packaging.

I will be doing a video soon chatting through my progress and my thoughts…

    My feedback so far:

I have good skin so, not to be too arrogant, but there's only so much improvement that can happen, if that makes sense? The MRC hasn't caused any breakouts or negative things, so that's great! And on Saturday I was wearing no make-up and actually remarked on my skin: it looks amazingly glowy and fresh! Kind of like the just-come-home-from-a-facial look? I was really impressed. I like the smell, it applies smoothly and doesn't feel gross and oily. I currently have micropore on my face, having had a mole removed, and I'm applying the MRC over the micro pore, so here's hoping that cut will benefit, too!

Simon is also using it. He has sensitised skin as a result of a few really bad sun burns as a kid, and also years of washing his face with soap [FAINTS!] and following that with body lotion. His skin often looks red and irritated, and it feels tight. His forehead also tends to get very dry and flaky by the end of the day. I have to say, the results on his skin have been remarkable! His skin is not irritated and red, and the dryness has improved drastically!

This is only a week in, and already I'm sure this is a product in which we will be investing in future.

Hi Liz, thanks for sharing your feedback. That is amazing.

My skin also is used to being treated really well so also only so much improvement I can see, but so far it look a lot more even and plump. I have been having the odd breakout over the last month and this is helping with that too. I adore the texture as I'm normally very anti oils – they make me feel dirty and I feel like they marking my pillowcase and making my newly washed hair greasy 🙂 This one is different though and smells amazing too. Keep the feedback coming 🙂 And yay for Simon moving on from soap and body lotion haha!
