Taste of Cape Town
This year was my first time going to this festival as in the past I have heard that it is ridiculously expensive and that you leave feeling a bit peckish, but wanted to investigate myself. I was kindly given tickets to go and try it out, but needed to buy myself crowns. Both my boyfriend and I bought 1 book each (24 crowns in a book at R120) to start off with. The variety of restaurants was seriously impressive and I thought the general set up was done really well too. Each taster was about 7 crowns (average amount) and was really exceptional and memorable. By the time we had got through 3/4’s of out booklets we were feeling like we could burst at any minute, so there really was no need in buying more than one book per person. The wine tasting was also great and made for quite a festive evening 🙂 All in all, I will be back next year without a doubt in my mind. I am one of those people that goes to a place like La Colombe and wishes I could have a little taste of everything on their menu, and this is exactly what Taste of Cape Town allows for. Even though some may argue that the portions are tiny, they really are perfect – and with the rich/diverse flavours that you get from each dish, you really don’t need any more!
Thanks for the tickets TOCT – what a great evening!
